Things Make No Sense

Life can be confusing. There are times when things simply don’t make sense. But God sees things differently than we do. He views everything from an eternal perspective, and while we may not always understand His ways, we can trust that He is working for our good.

Isaiah 55:8-9 reminds us, “‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.’” This verse tells us that God’s understanding far exceeds our own. What seems confusing or senseless to us is part of a much larger plan that God is orchestrating.

1 Corinthians 13:12 adds to this by saying, “Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.” There will come a day when all things will make sense. Until then, we live by faith, trusting in God’s wisdom and plan.

Romans 8:28 gives us a promise that can anchor our souls: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Even when life doesn’t make sense, we can be confident that God is bending all things—both good and bad—toward His perfect will. When we follow God’s blueprint for our lives, we can trust that He will cause everything to work together for our ultimate good.

In those moments when life feels chaotic and nothing seems to add up, we can find peace in knowing that God is in control. It’s not our job to understand every twist and turn in the road; it’s our job to trust the One who is guiding us. Just as a child doesn’t always understand the reasons behind a parent’s decisions but trusts their love and care, we too can rest in the assurance that God’s love for us is unwavering. He sees the whole picture, and His plans are always for our benefit.

So, when confusion and uncertainty cloud our path, let’s lean into our faith, trusting that God is working everything out for our good, even when we can’t see it. His promises are true, His love is constant, and His wisdom is perfect. Hold on to these truths and let them anchor your soul in every season of life.
