Mrs. Sylvia Fay Byrd Jameson of Orange Park, Florida, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on December 19, 2024, at the age of 92 years. She was born November 8, 1932, in Macon, Georgia to parents George and Nellie Moncrief Byrd.

She graduated from Miller High School for Girls in Macon in May 1950. Planning to study the natural world sciences she attended Mercer University, Macon, Georgia for one year. She married the love of her life William L. Jameson on September 1, 1951. His career with Sears moved them seven times to south and northwest Florida, central and southern Georgia, and finally to Orange Park, Florida. She made a warm and welcoming home for her family everywhere they moved. Her creativity, artistry, and home-making skills blessed her family with fantastic holidays, fabulous meals, and unforgettable vacations and adventures.

A strong Christian believer, she was quick to locate and join a Baptist church in each new town where she would share her musical talents with the music and children’s ministries. She and her husband helped to start a new mission church at Allegro Senior Living in Fleming Island, Florida.

Sylvia was an active member of several Florida Garden Clubs. She served in leadership positions and was an award-winning flower arranger. She was awarded the N.G.C. Emeritus Master Flower Show Judge honor. She conducted many seminars on floral arrangements throughout the state of Florida. She was instrumental in securing a meeting house for the Garden Club of Orange Park.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband William L. Jameson, and her son-in-law Barry Cooper. Left to cherish her memory are her children, daughters Kathy Marie Tyler (Philip) of Auburn, Alabama and Linda Jane Cooper of Villa Rica, Georgia; and son William Mark Jameson of Orange Park, Florida; Four grandchildren: Emily Tyler Bacon (Sam) of Atlanta, Georgia; Laura Tyler Strother (Kenny) of Auburn, Alabama; Kristin Leigh Cooper of Savannah, Georgia; and Jonathan Barrett Cooper of Atlanta, Georgia; Five great-grandchildren: Tyler, Addie and Piper Bacon of Atlanta, Georgia and William and Jackson Strother of Auburn, Alabama; and many dear and loved extended family members and friends.

To honor Sylvia services will be held Monday, January 6, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery and Funeral Home in Orange Park, Florida with the Reverend Bobby Highsmith officiating. Interment will follow immediately after the memorial service. Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery and Funeral Home prior to the service.
