Clay Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) has appointed Timothy Nguyen to the District 1 supervisor position. Nguyen is a District Chief with Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department and has been a Clay County resident for 23 years.
Supervisor Nguyen was sworn in at the District’s regular board meeting on March 14. He was in attendance at the Feb. 14 meeting and had expressed his interest in filling the vacant seat.
“I live in an area of Fleming Island that is prone to flooding. My property has been flooded several times during hurricane season, and I’m very concerned with drainage as well as the water quality of our St. Johns River and Doctors Lake,” Nguyen said.
“We are looking forward to working together with Supervisor Nguyen to further our district’s mission of improving the soil, water, and conservation practices within Clay County. He is a welcome addition to our group,” said Clay SWCD Chairperson Rachel Fox.
