EAGLE HARBOR - With a handful of returning state tournament qualifiers, the Fleming Island High boys and girls tennis teams welcomed St. Johns Country Day School for a dual match on Monday, March 10 with the teams splitting; 4-3 for the Lady Spartans and 6-1 for the Golden Eagles boys.
The Fleming Island boys' team was the Class 3A district champion with the boy's exiting region play in round one last year.
St. Johns had individual state qualifiers and returners this season in Calli Berrang and Ethan Kent. Kent and doubles partner Mason Vogt were state qualifiers with the Spartan boys also exiting in round one of the region playoffs.
Fleming Island has returner Zach Hyatt back on the court after a state finish in Class 3A and Katie Baird last year. Baird has not returned to the team.
