FLEMING ISLAND —St. Johns Classical Academy student Carlos Ayala was announced as a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program.
Less than one percent of seniors across the nation are awarded this honor, earned through outstanding scores on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®).
Not only does Ayala shine in his academic achievements, but he is also a tremendous influence in the school and community. Ayala has served as president of the National Honor Society, speaking captain of the basketball team and assistant editor-in-chief for the school newspaper, "The Oracle." He has also served as a camp leader at Camp I Am Special, a camp for individuals with a range of intellectual and developmental differences.
Ayala is not only an excellent scholar but an exemplary young man of character.
