Property Tax Exemption Renewal Cards mailed

Clay County Property Appraiser, Tracy Scott Drake, would like to inform Clay County residents that the 2026 Property Tax Exemption Renewal Cards and Tangible Personal Property Returns for existing accounts were mailed on Monday, Jan. 26, 2026. Renewal Cards for the Low-Income Senior Exemption(s) were mailed on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026.

Florida law offers a variety of property tax benefits, such as exemptions, classifications, and assessment reductions that help lower the taxable value of real property. The Clay County Property Appraiser’s Office (CCPAO) is committed to ensuring that all eligible property owners who have submitted the required application receive the full tax exemption benefits for which they qualify.

In Clay County, most property tax exemptions automatically renew each year. Once an initial exemption application is filed and approved, no additional application is required to maintain the exemption. Annually on or before Feb. 1, the CCPAO mails property tax exemption renewal cards to property owners who qualified for specific exemptions in the previous year. If eligibility has not changed, the renewal card serves as a receipt and does not need to be returned to the office.

It is the property owner’s responsibility to notify the CCPAO of any changes regarding exemption eligibility. Failure to provide prompt notification may result in significant penalties as prescribed by Florida law. If an exemption should no longer be applied to the property, detach the bottom portion of the card, indicate the exemption(s) to be discontinued, provide a current mailing address and return the card to the CCPAO.

A Property Tax Exemption Renewal Card Guide has been created to help property owners better understand the renewal cards. To view the guide or obtain additional information, please visit the News Update section on our website, www.ccpao.com or contact our office at (904) 284-6305. If you are eligible for an exemption, classification or tax reduction that you are not currently receiving, you may file a 2026 tax year application on or before March 2, 2026. Contact our office if you have any questions.
