ORANGE PARK – The Rotary Club of Orange Park selects its Citizen of the Year from one of three categories: outstanding Rotarian, elected official or community leader. The club determined former Orange Park Mayor and Impact Clay CEO and President Connie Thomas satisfied all three categories. After adding the wildly successful Clay Impact Train stops to the nonprofit’s services a year ago, Thomas was honored last Tuesday as the Citizen of the Year. Thomas told fellow members that she is one of hundreds who serve the county, and she was proud to be a Rotarian, especially since the organization's motto is “Service Above Self.” Jack Scorby handed Thomas her award, while club president David Tarkington looked on.
