MIDDLEBURG - Oakleaf High baseball got five runs off hits by Jeter Farina; one a two run double to a 3-0 lead, to win an 11-0 game over Middleburg on Monday, March 24 in a return to area baseball after Spring Break.
Oakleaf, who returns home from a three day tournament break in Panama City, collected nine hits against Middleburg with Farina hitting a sacrifice fly after a double by J Espinosa and a single by S Albaneze to score the game's first run.
In the second, Farina, at shortstop, turned a nifty double play off a line drive by Middleburg's Cole Hester then nailed Middleburg's Michael Gunson who was at first base, but was on the run on the hit.
In the next inning, Farina struck again with a two run double after Espinosa and Albaneze both were hit by pitches. Farina had a long sacrifice fly to centerfield that scored another run in the third to push the score to 7-0.
Oakleaf was scheduled to host St. Johns Country Day School on Wednesday, March 26 with a road trip to Ponte Vedra on Friday, March 28.
