PEARL HARBOR – Capt. Sean M. Andrews, a native of Orange Park and a 1994 graduate of Middleburg High, recently relinquished command while serving at Navy Supply Command (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center Pearl Harbor.

The change of command is a time-honored Navy tradition that formally transfers authority, responsibility and accountability from one commanding officer to the next. More than a ceremonial milestone, the event reflected the continuity of leadership required to sustain ready, capable naval forces and deliver combat-credible logistics support throughout the Indo-Pacific.

A 1997 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Andrews was also a three-year letter winner and defensive back for the Navy football team, wearing No. 29. During his playing career, he tied the Academy’s single season record with eight interceptions.

The skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in Orange Park.

“I learned that humility is the only thing that keeps you truly grounded and level-headed,” Andrews said. “Making respect my default approach became the foundation of who I am, ensuring I always focus on the mission and the people, rather than myself.”

Andrews has served in the Navy for 28 years.

Naval Supply Systems Command provides supply, acquisition and logistics support to the Navy and joint force worldwide. As one of its 11 subordinate commands, NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center Pearl Harbor enables forward operations and sustains fleet readiness throughout the Indo-Pacific.

Headquartered in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, NAVSUP employs more than 22,500 military and civilian personnel. In coordination with the Navy Supply Corps, NAVSUP delivers the logistics capabilities required to sustain naval forces and support operational readiness.

With 90% of global commerce traveling by sea and access to the internet relying on the security of undersea fiber-optic cables, Navy officials continue to emphasize that the prosperity of the United States is directly linked to recruiting and retaining talented people from across the rich fabric of America.

Andrews has many opportunities to achieve accomplishments during military service.

“Being selected to captain is one of my proudest moments,” Andrews said. “Doing my job well ensures that I am giving to something bigger than myself.”

Andrews has served the Navy that operates far forward, around the world and around the clock, promoting the nation’s prosperity and security.

This year, the Navy is commemorating its contribution to the nation’s defense as the United States celebrates 250 years of independence. According to Navy officials, the Navy has sailed the globe defending freedom and protecting prosperity. More information is available at navy.mil/navy-250/.
