GREEN COVE SPRINGS – A 19-year-old Jacksonville man was struck and killed while walking along U.S. Highway 17 shortly before 8 a.m. Wednesday, at J.P. Hall Boulevard, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
According to a release, the victim was in the northbound travel lane when he was struck by a pickup driven by a man from Green Cove Springs.
The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The roadway was closed for nearly three hours why FHP investigated.
The FHP does not release names of people involved in accidents.
