ORANGE PARK – A 22-year-old man who sped away from a traffic stop crashed on Wells Road and was arrested for possessing marijuana and a loaded handgun on Dec. 4.
According to the Clay County Sheriff's Office, Jayen Noel Wilson, of Orange Park, was spotted running a red light, speeding and driving erratically on Blanding Boulevard, which prompted a traffic stop. He refused to provide his driver’s license and demanded to speak only to a supervisor. When the deputy opened the driver’s door, Wilson drove away and crashed into a utility pole on Wells Road.
When deputies removed him from the car, they found a bag containing marijuana, a handgun loaded with 15 rounds and a homemade water bong.
He was charged with battery on a deputy, resisting, opposing or obstructing law enforcement, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and fleeing law enforcement.
His bond was set at $180,012.
