MIDDLEBURG – An Orange Park man was arrested on Jan. 20 after Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies said he left the scene of an accident and started biting deputies when they tracked him down to put him in custody.

William Eric Lee, 51, was charged with resisting a law enforcement officer with violence, threatening with death or serious bodily injury, driving under the influence with damage to property or injury and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage or injury after CCSO said he rear-ended another car in the 1500 block of Blanding Boulevard. They spotted a damaged Ford Escape at the Clay County Utility building on Old Jennings Road. They initiated a traffic stop at a convenience store on the corner of Old Jennings and Blanding.

According to the arrest report, Lee wrestled with two deputies when they attempted to arrest him. He bit one deputy and tried to bite the other. He also threatened one of the deputies.

They found two unopened containers of wine inside his car and an open box of wine in the cup holder.

Lee’s bond was set at $111,010.
