Harold Melvin Mullinax

On November 8, 2024, at 8:24 pm, God Looked on earth and chose a child of his to award to heaven to live with him. He said, " At ease soldier, you have served me well, it’s time to come home." We who are left behind are sad and grieving but we are rejoicing that ENC Harold Melvin Mullinax born June 5, 1939, is now home in heaven. Harold was born in Greenville, South Carolina and joined the United States Navy in February 1959, and retired in June 1988. Harold had many different duty stations including Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, IL; Mine Squadron Ten: Naval Air Station, Glynco, GA; USS Epping Forest ( MSC-7); Mine Squadron Ten:  USS Hunley (AS-31); Naval Air Station, Pt. Mugu, CA; USS Preble (DDG-46); Naval Air Station, Whiting Field, Milton, FL; Gas Turbine Mobile Training Team, Mayport, FL; and Naval Air Station, Cecil Field, FL.  He was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal; Good Conduct Medal (Seven Awards); Navy Expeditionary Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. 

  Harold was predeceased by his wife of 57 years Virginia Mullinax, his parents Ken and Gladys Mullinax, and 7 siblings; Janie Witherspoon, Elsie Alexander, Sara Hudson, Patricia Carter, Myrtle Holloway, Elmer Mullinax and Earl Mullinax.

 

Harold leaves behind 2 daughters Eugenia Lynn Mullinax and Sonja Kay (Mullinax) Heinold. Harold was a loving and amazing man known as " Grandpa, Dad, Papa, Brother and Uncle." He leaves behind 5 grandchildren Jennifer Lynn Blair (Billy), Jacqueline Leigh Brown (Nick), Jeremy Wayne Perez (Liz), Sarah Nikohl Anderson (David), and Nathaniel Scott Heinold along with 7 great-grandchildren Natalie, Karli, Christian, Lilly, Skyler, Colin, and Aubrey. Harold also leaves behind 2 sisters Lavada Mullinax and Louise Barbrey as well as many nerves and nephews Harold Will be forever loved and greatly missed.

  Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 18, 2024, in the Chapel of Russell Haven of Rest with Pastor Ron Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Heritage Section of Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery. A time of visitation will be from 10:00 AM- 11:00 AM Monday prior to services.
