MIDDLEBURG – A 72-year-old Gainesville woman was killed in a head-on collision Monday afternoon, and her passenger suffered serious injuries after the driver of a pickup truck crossed into her lane on State Road 21 and struck her.
The Florida Highway Patrol didn’t release the victims’ names, but the agency said the driver of the pickup truck was a 69-year-old man from Keystone Heights. He suffered minor injuries.
The victim’s SUV was traveling southbound and overturned on impact.
The accident happened north of Dade Road, and traffic was backed up on SR 21 for nearly 90 minutes.
