GREEN COVE SPRINGS — As part of the county's long list of plans to ring in the United State's upcoming semi-quincentennial celebration, the Freedom 250 Truck rolled into the county ready to impress. Parked in front of the Clay County Administrative Building for three days, starting on Monday, June 15, more than 800 people viewed the free mobile museum, highlighting America's story of independence, civic pride and the spirit of community. The bus, which is currently traveling the nation, featured immersive activities including a chance to digitally sign the Declaration of Independence. The event also welcomed various booths and food trucks. During an introductory ceremony on Tuesday, County Manager Howard Wanamaker called it a "powerful reminder that our history is not something we look back on, [but] it is something we must actively preserve, share and pass on."
