FLEMING ISLAND — Saving lives was the ultimate goal for members of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity on Saturday, May 3.
The Psi Mu Nu Chapter, in partnership with OneBlood, hosted a blood drive, inviting community members to come out and give back to an important cause.
Blood drives are primarily used as a way to acquire blood for those in need of transfusions and treatment for a span of medical conditions.
According to the American Red Cross, every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. However, according to Statista, only about 3% of eligible people donate blood yearly.
With the Big Red Bus making an appearance, all potential donors were tested inside to ensure their eligibility. If able to give, donors received a $20 eGift Card, a trucker hat and a wellness checkup for blood pressure, pulse, temperature, iron count and cholesterol.
