FLEMING ISLAND – Whiskey Valor Foundation and K9s for Warriors benefited from Corks and Barrels’ unique Warriors and Whiskey fundraising event on Saturday, Nov. 8, at its lounge on Town Center Boulevard. While the fee of $75 seemed steep at first, the return proved to be a bargain because patrons were treated to games, a raffle, free lunch provided by the barbecue team Salty Skipper, samples of nearly 100 spirits and wines, swag bags, live music by the Salty Dawgs, an auction, a cigar bar and vendor booths. The Whiskey Valor Foundation is dedicated to fostering a supportive whiskey community that addresses the numerous challenges faced by veterans. At the same time, K9s for Warriors is a St. Johns County-based nonprofit that is the nation's leading provider of Service Dogs for Veterans diagnosed with service-related post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma.
