YULEE – A former Supervisor of the Clay County Soil and Water Conservation District and son of a Clay County School Board member, was one of four Clay County men arrested in a 10-person sex sting conducted by the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office.
Harrison “Ted” Clark, 30, of Orange Park, the son of school board member Beth Clark, resigned from the district on Friday, Jan. 24, after being charged with traveling to meet a minor for sex, soliciting a child online and use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.
Among the 10 were Willie Leon Wright, 40, of Green Cove Springs; Randal James Warn, 44, of Oakleaf; and Christian Tillmon, 24, of Oakleaf. Wright is a registered sex offender with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
According to court documents, Clark admitted his “addiction to pornography” and “preference for children.” He said that preference intensified after pornography site PornHub removed its service from Florida customers on Jan. 1.
The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office posed as a 14-year-old child and answered messages from men who were looking to meet children for sex. The suspects used online sources like “Skip The Games,” “Sniffles” “and “Tagged.”
NCSO accused Clark of using “Sniffles” to message who he believed was a 14-year-old boy. The agency said Clark admitted he was aware the respondent was 14.
Investigators revealed some of the messages between Clark and the “teen,” like, “Hopefully not too old for ya,” and “So your parents won’t be home, that’s crazy.” There also were sexually explicit exchanges.
Clark was to meet the “teen” on Jan. 19 at State Road 200 and Flora Park Blvd. When he arrived, he was arrested.
The Soil and Conservation District issued the following statement after he resigned:
“The Clay Soil and Water Conservation District is deeply troubled to learn that our former chair, Harrison “Ted” Clark, was recently arrested as part of a sting operation in Nassau County. The District was blindsided by this information several hours after Former Supervisor Clark had emailed his notice of resignation Friday afternoon. Former Supervisor Clark’s actions in no way reflect the code of ethics by which the District operates. We stand ready to assist with any investigational efforts that may be needed of our district.”
