GREEN COVE SPRINGS - With eight individual district titles, Clay High won the district 3-2A wrestling title with an impressive 12 wrestlers in finals matches at Clay High School on Wednesday, February 18.
Clay finished with a 288 team point total with the win over Beachside, runnerup with 214, and 126 from Orange Park with Ponte Vedra, Riverside, Fleming Island, ED White and Westside finishing the team roster.
Champions for the Blue Devils, also the Duals district champions early this year, were Liam Soto, Calvin Wells, Calvyn St. Clair, Drew Holmquist, Drew Loveland, Landon Martin, Brandon Mitchell and Jayshawn McCleod as Clay once again displayed their upper weight dominance.
Also champions for the district were Elijah Grant and Justin Garay from Orange Park, Matthew Braddock from Fleming Island; Walter Howard of Beachside and Cash Trujillo and Daniel De Almeida of Ponte Vedra.
Clay will advance to the region championship meet at Tallahassee Chile on February 27-28.
The top four finishers in the individual competition also advance.
District 2-2A, with Middleburg and Ridgeview will travel to Tallahassee Lincoln on Friday, February 20 for the district 2-2A championship.
