Clay County deputy arrested for filing false report

CLAY COUNTY – Clay County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Tyler North was arrested for filing a false police report and leaving the scene of a traffic crash with property damage.

The arrest comes after Deputy North was the at-fault driver in a traffic crash on Sept. 17, 2024, on Blanding Boulevard near the intersection of Blairmore Boulevard. Dep. North was on duty at the time and driving his agency-issued vehicle when he rear-ended another car. Dep. North spoke to the other person involved in the crash before leaving the scene without making any reports of the crash. He later completed an official report where he made false statements as to how the damage occurred to his agency-issued vehicle.

The arrest was the conclusion of an extensive investigation by our Integrity Unit.

CCSO employed Dep. North from Nov. 7, 2023, until his employment was terminated on Nov. 4 following his arrest. It should be noted Dep. North was on administrative leave and had his duties revoked while the incident was investigated. Dep. North had no prior discipline history with CCSO.
