FLEMING ISLAND – Clamour Theatre Company is thrilled to announce its new home in 2025 at Fleming Island United Methodist Church, 7170 U.S. Highway 17. The partnership marks an exciting chapter for Clamour, providing a dedicated space to nurture creativity and bring the community together through the performing arts.
In line with its mission to encourage a love of theatre in Clay County and foster a strong, vibrant theatre community, Clamour is launching acting classes designed for both beginning and experienced adult actors. These classes aim to help participants refine their craft and build confidence in a supportive and professional environment. Special accommodation can also be arranged for minor actors who attend along with a parent or guardian.
Beginning in early January, the scene study and audition technique classes are taught by Elaine Smith, a veteran actor, director and playwright with over 20 years’ experience in the New York City theatre industry. Elaine is a member of Actors’ Equity, SAG-AFTRA and the Dramatists Guild. She holds a Master’s in Theatre, has acted and directed in NYC and regionally as well as having had several productions of her plays.
With hundreds, if not thousands, of auditions under her belt as both performer and auditor, Elaine brings a wealth of experience to her teaching.
“There are so many mistakes I see actors make when auditioning,” she said. “That wouldn’t happen if they just had a little guidance.”
These classes offer a rare opportunity to learn from a seasoned professional. Class sizes are limited to a maximum of 10 participants, ensuring individualized attention and a tailored learning experience.
Clamour’s acting classes are among the most affordable in the area, making them accessible to a wide range of aspiring performers. Whether you’re stepping onto the stage for the first time or looking to hone your existing skills, Clamour Theatre Company invites you to join this exciting journey of artistic growth.
