KISSIMMEE - Middleburg High's trio of Porter Lovelan, Micah Thomas and Jonathan Harp remain as the Bronco lineups only wrestlers still alive in the chase for a Knockout Christmas Classic title after Day One action concluded and Saturday will bring more championship action leading to the championship matches.
Harp at 106, Thomas at 150 and Loveland at 215 all advanced to their respective championship rounds on Saturday with Harp winning two matches; 14-4 and 19-2; Thomas getting a BYE and a 3-0 win and Loveland getting a BYE and a 3-0 win to advance.
Middleburg has four wrestlers; Chris McKeel at 144, Keensdee Roseme at 190, Nathan Harvey at 126 and Sean Blouin at 165 still alive for medals in the consolation rounds on Saturday.
St. Johns Country Day School has two wrestlers; seventh grader Bryce Fiore at 113 and Howard Hill at 157 still in championship round action. Fiore has a BYE and a 14-1 win with Hill advancing with two 3-0 wins.
Fleming Island had five wrestlers and still have JD Linn, 1-1 at 138, and Zion Longmire at 175, 2-1 with two byes and 12-10 loss, viable to consolation medals.
Matthew Braddock at 144 finished 1-2 with Landon Johnson at 126 0-2.
