GREEN COVE SPRINGS— Books, books and more books was the theme at Monday's Historic Triangle event.
In a collaboration between the Clay County Historical Society and the Clerk of Court's Historical Archives Division, the maiden History Book Fair showcased many local authors and chronicled past and present times.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., guests of all ages explored a range of Orange Park's fascinating history with Cynthia Cheatwood, author of Orange Park: Images of America and entered the state's most extravagant gothic chapels with Jonathan Rich, author of Spires in the Sun: The Carpenter Gothic Episcopal Churches of Florida.
They also took a Crayola colorful journey through the state's most interesting attractions with Linda Schilling Mitchell, author of My Color Full Florida and dived into some rich Green Cove Springs history, told from the eyes of Wanda Suttle Duncan, who wrote Cracker Gothic: A Florida Woman's Memoir.
Other books featured were Backcountry Lawman: True Stories from a Florida Game Warden by Bob H. Lee, Florida: A History in Pictures by Mike McGinness and Jeff Davies, Turpentown by Randy Harris, and Recipes from the Heart from the Village Improvement Association.
Paired with a scavenger hunt, those in attendance followed the long trail of tables, marking off each visit as they went along.
Along with door prizes, there were also book signings, special presentations and Q&A sessions for guests wanting to learn more.
