GREEN COVE SPRINGS — It looks as though progress on the Culver's restaurant at 503 N. Orange Ave. is moving forward.
According to the city's Development Services team, the site plan for the 4,439-square-foot building, costing $2.2 million, was approved at the July 21 city council meeting. The building permit is currently in review which should be approved soon.
Also in review is an application to begin the demolition of the two existing buildings on site.
First proposed last December, the restaurant will include a drive-thru, outside seating and 58 parking spaces. The project will be overseen by Campbell Construction.
Culver's is a popular fast-casual restaurant chain known for its ButterBurgers, sandwiches, seafood and fresh frozen custards. The first one was opened in 1984 in Sauk City, Wisconsin.
This would be the second Culver's location in Clay County — the other in Middleburg at 1767 Blanding Blvd.
