Senior Games returning to Jacksonville for 10 days

JACKSONVILLE – Senior athletes are invited to register for the Jacksonville Senior Games from Sept. 29 to Oct. 8.

Seasoned athletes 50 and older can compete in an Olympic-style event with competitive and novice classes.

The Florida Sports Foundation sanctions the games and are a qualifier for the Florida Senior Games State Championships.

Being healthy and active is not only important for physical and mental well-being. This is why the Forever Fit 50 and Beyond: Jacksonville Senior Games offers non-physical games and activities and plenty of social events that allow our participants to renew friendships, create new ones, and share experiences. In the spirit of good sportsmanship, anything is possible.

Events include 5K road race, powerlifting (bench press and deadlift), 5K and 10K cycling, singles and doubles table tennis, singles and doubles bowling, bridge, basketball free throws and spot shots, swimming, singles and doubles tennis, golf, Chinese Mah Jong and singles and doubles pickleball.

Age groups are 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89 and 90 and older.
