“Long term mindset, Short term goals”

ORANGE PARK – Just last year, a well-known studio moved into Orange Park. Fit Body Boot Camp, on the corner of Kingsley and Park Avenues, just south of the police station, is new to Clay County, but the third studio owned by Billie Young.

Fit Body Boot Camp is known for its specialized afterburn workouts – a combination of high intensity training and active rest training. As I’ve mentioned in the past to our readers, these types of workouts continue to burn body fat and calories twice as long.

Group classes are taught by knowledgeable and experienced trainers in a near one hour workout. Workouts are challenging, high energy, fun and work the entire body.

I’ve seen interest and growth with fitness opportunities and events in the Clay County area. Locals are seeking ways to get active and fit. The Orange Park area is a prime spot for simple, fast and effective personalized group training like FBBC.

When I visited the studio, the atmosphere was alive. People were moving, in-sync to music, sweating, and smiling (some). You can tell the place is focused on changing people’s lives. Clients are recognized with a colorful star tracking board, large poster paper to write your goals, a member of the month spotlight and colored shirts when you achieve certain fitness levels. There’s a kid’s room, monthly webinars, and in-studio workshops on fitness and nutrition.

Membership has doubled since opening in March 2016. With classes ranging from 15-25 people, schedule times accommodate the busy adult with four morning sessions and three evening sessions. Soon to be offered will be a Recovery program for those rehabbing and a LIFE program for low impact workouts.

Active all her life, Billie Young was not too big or too thin, but she was also not in good shape nor a good eater too. From sodas, chips, snack cakes, pizza and burgers, she developed some bad habits that affected her daily living.

“By the age of 24, I had the energy of an 80 year old. I also cried every time I had to wear a bathing suit and struggled with some pretty serious food issues that had quietly developed over the years. Oh, and I was a smoker –gasp,” Young said.

In 2009, she walked into a bar and met a man who was healthy and fit. She was embarrassed by her eating habits and lack of fitness. Within weeks, she starting working out and managing the binge eating and drinking. She joined Fit Body Boot Camp, and started to receive group personal training and nutrition support.

“I’d be lying if I said healthy habits come easy to me. They do not, but I work at it every day and I am better for it. I am now in the best shape of my life and almost looking better than my husband.” (She married the man she met, and is also a new mother of a two-year-old!)

She loved her experience at Fit Body Boot Camp that she started two studios in Jacksonville and the one here in Orange Park.

“I’ve been through the process, I’ve hit plateaus and overcome hurdles to get to where I am and I’m excited to share my passion, knowledge and experiences with my clients. My philosophy for business and life is have a long-term mindset, but short-term goals.” Young says we are a category of one, and what matters is improving the quality of life for that one, client by client.
