Fertil, Rodgers head to 2A state track
JACKSONVILLE - Ridgeview High will send two track athletes to the Class 2A track and field championships at the IMG Academy in Bradenton on May 6-7.
Senior triple jumper Devon Fertil, fourth at the region 1-2A championships where top four athletes advance, jumped 44 feet, 10.75 inches to go with the winning jump at 46’-0.50” coming from Bishop Kenny senior R’Laxon Brumfield.
The 2016 2A winning jump was measured at 46’-9.75”.
Fertil also competed at the region meet in the discus and the 400 where he finished 10th in discus and 15th in the 400.
In the 110 high hurdles, Ridgeview sends sophomore Glenn Rodgers for a state title attempt with a fourth place 15.37 time in the finals.
Tyricke Dickens, a Tallahassee Godby senior, won the region race with an impressive 13.85 seconds. The 2016 2A champion won with a 14.63 split.
