Faith walk: A settled Faith

C. S. Lewis was a great writer declaring Christian truth. His influence lives on in his writings supporting the truth of the Christian faith.

When he was 15-years-old, he became an atheist. About this time, he developed an interest in the occult. There were other strong influences that led him away from God.

However, in later writings, he described himself as being paradoxically “very angry with God for not existing.”

He had friends who engaged him in serious discussion and debate about the Christian faith. Finally, through a convergence of influences, he became a Christian.

He fought greatly up to the moment of his conversion, noting that he was brought into Christianity like a prodigal, “kicking, struggling, resentful, and darting his eyes in every direction for a chance to escape.” So, finally, at age 33, he committed himself to Christ and became one of the Lord’s greatest spokesmen.

As a young man, C. S. Lewis embraced atheism and the occult. He then reviewed the claims of Christ and understood that Jesus was his Savior. He was much like the Roman centurion of the Scriptures who looked upon the man on the cross that he had helped crucify and declared, “Truly He was the Son of God.”

No matter where you started in your search for truth, God can bring you to a place of absolute faith and make you a spokesman for Him. Wherever you stand right now, God is striving with you to come to Him.

Many people have faced their doubts and questions and have come to the realization that Jesus is Christ. Open your heart to the Lord and He will settle with you all your doubts.

As it was with C. S. Lewis, it may seem that you are in an arduous struggle to come to the place of settled faith. You will arrive at that place, however, if your heart is sincerely open to His truth. You will come to the understanding by faith that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
