FLEMING ISLAND – Community First Credit Union has officially started construction on its new branch at 2004 East West Parkway near the Fresh Market’s planned location in the Island Walk North shopping center. Board members, executives, branch staff and Clay County leaders celebrated the launch of construction with a May 4 groundbreaking ceremony. The 3,360 square feet branch will replace a retail location at 1545 County Rd. 220 and is set to open in fall 2017. “We are proud to begin construction on the first new, freestanding branch in our network in more than 3½ years,” said John Hirabayashi, chief executive officer and president of Community First. “The new branch will provide conveniences not available in our current location while offering our members an enhanced experience in modern, in-person banking.” The interior design features modern bright colors, furniture and finishes along with a mix of carpet and solid flooring and surfaces, most of which are sustainable or recycled. The interior also features a relaxation zone, interactive tablets, transaction counters without barriers, a digital community board and advisory stations.
