KISSIMMEE - Marcus Reid is in the Class 2A semifinals on Saturday after winning with two pins to get there, but Ridgeview High teammate Saeid Ejmali, who has been shoulder to shoulder with his best wrestling friend all season, lost in the quarterfinals to fall out of a shot at a state title.

For Orange Park, state qualifier Nartorian Lee returned to the state meet with a chip on his shoulder to get a medal and has made it possible with a 5-2 in his quarterfinal. Raider teammates Reed Danielson was eliminated with two losses while, at 220, Tyler DeHart stayed alive with three wins to the consolation quarterfinal and a shot at a medal. Lee could be on a collision course with Creekside's Brandon Dickman in that final with Dickman also making the semifinal round.

Ejmali, at 138, lost a 9-4 decision in his quarterfinal, but came back to pin in his first wrestleback match to stay alive for a medal.

Reid, at 120, who has beaten many of 2A and some of the best 3A athletes, smoked through his first two matches with decisive pins. Reid is to face Chris Rivera (43-5) of Fort Myers in his semi.

Also in 2A, Middleburg has Tazz Hampton at 106 and Trenton Carroll at 145 both out with two losses with Bryan Heflin at 182 and Bailey Barnard at 285 both still in the fight for medals beyond the 1-2 matches with each losing their first match, but rebounding with wins in wrestlebacks.

Ridgeview is in 17th place with Orange Park at 28 and Middleburg at 39 after day one.
