Expect that something will happen when you pray. That is faith. When you enter God’s presence in prayer you must “believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” (Heb 11:6)
The same verse I referenced above also says, “Without faith it is impossible to please God.”
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope (pray) for and assurance about what we do not see.” (Heb. 11:1 NIV) We walk by faith not by sight.
So in order to receive anything from God, you must pray and you must believe. We know that is easier said than done!
Faith perseveres. If you have faith, you will not give up on receiving the answer to your prayers, Jesus taught that “we should always pray and never give up.” Jesus taught this principle in Luke chapter 18 when He told the parable of the widow and the unjust judge. The whole premise of His teaching was that we should PRAY and NEVER GIVE UP!
Faith (believing God) will persevere. Giving up before the answer comes is the opposite of true prayer.
I have heard people say that you should only ask once when you pray. This supposition maintains that you need to ask once and only once if you have faith and if you ask again that is evidence of unbelief. Jesus did not teach that. He actually taught us to pray until the answer comes.
Today if you are seeking the Lord for answers in your life, my counsel to you is keep praying! To have prayers answered by the Lord you must never give up.
Faith is frequently misunderstood. We often think it is a simple formula. Ask, expect receive. But it is really more about staying the course.
Faith makes things possible; it does not make them easy.
