Virginia (Ginny) Wilbanks Chasey, (79), of Orange Park, FL, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2023.

Ginny was born on May 3, 1944, in Gadsden, AL, to Sarah Allen (Clark) Wilbanks and William Heath Wilbanks. She graduated from DeLand High School in DeLand, FL, received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and her master’s degree from the University of West Florida.

She was a Christian and a member of Pinewood Church in Middleburg, FL. She will forever be remembered for her caring soul that she shared with the world, a deep love of animals, and steadfast loyalty to her friends and family.

Ginny was a cherished wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded by her father, William Heath Wilbanks and her mother, Sarah Allen (Clark) Wilbanks. She is survived by her husband, August Chasey; children, Susan (William) May of Jacksonville, FL, Allen Chasey of Peachtree City, GA, and Sally (Mark) Pierce of Senoia, GA; grandchildren: Kate, Erin, and Lindsay Chasey; Sarah and Brian Pierce; her sister, Lila Sandstrom; nieces, Kathryne Bryant, and Virginia (Rick) Hayes.

Ginny will be laid to rest in a private ceremony on Friday, September 15, 2023, in the Jacksonville National Cemetery. At 2 p.m. that afternoon, a celebration in honor of Ginny’s life will be held at Pinewood Church in Middleburg, FL.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ginny ’s honor to Clay Education Foundation or Clay Humane. Both organizations honor her well, as she was a lifelong teacher and an animal advocate.
