GREEN COVE SPRINGS - The Village Improvement Association of Green Cove Springs will host its second annual ‘Fun in the Sun’ children’s event on July 11.

Held at the Vera Francis Hall Park, VIA President Larianne Stutts said the public can expect lots of fun.

The free event will feature frozen treats, music, games, prizes, water activities, face painting, and a photo booth.

Last year, the event was held at the Augusta Savage Arts and Community Center. Stutts said this year's change in location is set to attract a much bigger crowd to the park.

Stutts said the event has received more support from local groups in Green Cove, which has resulted in more fun activities for the youth.

“We’re hoping that all of Clay County’s children will come,” Stutts said. “Especially the youth of Green Cove. We really want to celebrate the children and let them have a great day.”

Additionally, the event will feature cars and trucks for the children to see and water donated by Florida Blue.

“We’ve just got a lot of people that are involved and wanting us to be successful. And, it’s all about giving back to the children,” Stutts said.

The event will occur from 10 a.m. to noon at 1503 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
