GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Residents on the county’s south end were reminded not to worry if their windows rattled and their routines were interrupted by loud blasts last weekend. That’s because the First Florida Chapter of the Military Vehicle Preservation’s Winter Rally was on display at the Military Museum of North Florida. Thousands of fans of military equipment filled the fields around the museum at Reynolds Industrial Park to see Jeeps, tanks, cannons and helicopters on static display. Starting on Friday, Feb. 25, there were displays of tank and cannon fire at 1 p.m. for three days, prompting the Green Cove Springs Police Department to issue a “Boom Alert.”
