GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Mark your calendar for an afternoon of food, music and pig races on Oct. 21 at the Swine and Dine Derby at the Clay County Fairgrounds.
The event is sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Green Cove Springs and Fleming Island, and it includes admission, dinner, soft drink, pig races and entertainment. Beer and wine will be available for sale for $5.
All money benefits the organization’s scholarship fund.
The band 5 Good Years will play. There also will be a derby hat contest, petting zoo, 50/50 raffle and games and activities for children.
The first pig race at 5 p.m. supports The Way Free Clinic and Clay County Dental Care. Race No. 2 is at 6 p.m. and benefits college scholarships for Clay County students.
The third race at 7 p.m. will go to the Rotarians for Development of Youth programs.
Advance tickets are $35 for adults and $12 for children until Oct. 16. They are available at ipswebdesign.wufoo.com. Tickets are $40 for adults and $12 for children at the gate.
