GREEN COVE SPRINGS – The City of Green Cove Springs is pleased to announce applications are open for the Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC).
This committee is designed to gather and provide input and feedback from residents and business owners on various issues related to City operations. The feedback received from the CAC may significantly influence the City's decisions.
The CAC is open to City residents and business owners. To be eligible, residents and businesses must live within or within one mile of the city limits or utility service area. Business owners must have their businesses located in or within one mile of the city limits or utility service area. Additionally, business owners must hold a valid business license issued by the City.
The CAC will explore nine major areas, though the scope of topics is unlimited. Key focus areas include economic development, city beautification, stormwater management, transportation and public safety. Committee members will provide feedback on specific projects or policies, which will be considered by City officials and the City Council.
“The Citizens Advisory Committee is a great way to increase transparency and encourage more public involvement in the City decision-making process,” City Manager Steve Kennedy said.
The CAC holds monthly meetings, publicly announced and recorded by the City Clerk. Agendas and minutes are available on greencovesprings.com for public viewing. The committee will maintain the same level of accountability and transparency as other appointed boards and elected bodies of the City.
Interested residents and business owners can apply by filling out an application at greencovesprings.com/335/Citizens-Advisory-Committee and emailing the completed forms to Executive Assistant Kimberly Thomas at kthomas@greencovesprings.com.
City staff will review applications, and accepted applicants will be notified after Jan. 1. There is no deadline to submit applications, but the City encourages early submissions.
