FLEMING ISLAND – The Board of Directors of the Clay County Economic Development Corporation selected Crawford Powell as the new president of the organization.
In this role, Crawford will oversee Clay County’s economic development efforts – a collaboration between local government and the business community to promote and market Clay County as a great place for companies to relocate and grow their businesses. This role will also focus on the creation of shovel-ready sites for project placements.
“We are excited to welcome Crawford to our economic development team. Crawford brings a tremendous amount of industry knowledge and relationships within the economic development community to this role,” said Chairman George Egan. “I want to thank the Board of Directors for their commitment to finding the right candidate to lead the organization forward. I also want to thank the Board of County Commissioners for their partnership and support of the economic development in Clay County. The commitment of the Board of County Commissioners and Clay EDC Board of Directors demonstrates the importance of economic development in Clay County.”
“Now is a great time for Clay County with so many infrastructure assets coming online. There is an excitement I feel from leadership throughout northeast Florida that Clay County is on the verge of realizing its full economic potential,” Powell said.
Crawford most recently served as the Principal of Impact Development Group in Valdosta, Georgia, an economic development group that consulted with a variety of governments, communities and organizations. Crawford also brings the knowledge from his service as a County Commissioner for Lowndes County Board of Commissioners from 2010 to 2014.
He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Valdosta State University. He is also involved in many volunteer efforts and organizations.
