Woman charged with trying to kill three people during fight

ORANGE PARK – A Middleburg woman was arrested for shooting at three people Sept. 27 behind Academy Sports + Outdoors on Blanding Boulevard.

Ana Rae Mooring, 18, was charged with three counts of attempted murder. She remained in the Clay County Jail with a $750,009 bond.

According to deputies, Mooring pulled a handgun from her waistband and fired at three people during a fight. All three tried to find shelter in Harper’s car but Mooring kept shooting at them.

Mooring eventually was caught at Wacko’s Gentleman’s Club in Jacksonville.

Student busted with ounce of fentanyl-laced marijuana

MIDDLEBURG – A Middleburg High student was caught with a pound of fentanyl-laced marijuana, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said.

Lucas Dillion Rosier, 18, of Middleburg, was charged Sept. 28 with possession of fentanyl and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A woman was stopped for a burned-out headlight at 4045 County Road 218 at Blanding Boulevard. Rosier was sitting in the front seat, while another woman was riding in the back seat.

The driver told deputies there were drugs in the car. They found 28.7 grams of marijuana that apparently was laced with fentanyl.

Rosier was being held at the Clay County Jail with a $30,005 bond. The driver was given a warning for the headlight.

CCSO makes two arrests during routine traffic stop

MIDDLEBURG – A routine traffic stop on Sept. 26 led to the arrest of a woman with methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia and a man who failed to register as a sexual predator.

Cherie Nicole House, 27, of Lake Butler, was caught with methamphetamine, a syringe, two digital scales and a plastic cap to cook the drug.

Lucas Chase Jewett, 30, of Middleburg was charged with failing to register as a predator.

Deputies stopped a car driven by Randall Davis after he failed to stop at the stop sign at Foxtail Avenue and Johns Cemetery Road, Clay County Sheriff’s Office said.

During the stop, deputies noticed drugs in the car.

During the check, they noticed Jewett hadn’t updated his driver’s license or his change of address within 48 hours of moving.

Child rescued from trash, drug-infested house

MIDDLEBURG – Two people were arrested during a drug bust Sept. 26 by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office SWAT and Street Crimes Unit.

Deputies raided a home at 4655 Johns Cemetery Road and found a child living with garbage, fermented food, maggots and dirty laundry in a house where drugs were being used and sold.

Charles Olen McMillan, 40, of Middleburg, was charged with keeping a house used for drugs and child neglect. He was at the Clay County Jail with a $75,005 bond.

Keri Ann Oliver, 41, also was charged with child neglect.

A family member took custody of the child.

Robbery, kidnapping suspect caught in Orange Park

CLAY COUNTY – Sheriff’s Office deputies tracked down a 24-year-old Middleburg man who was wanted for armed robbery and kidnapping for stuffing a victim in the trunk of a car for several hours.

Austin Levi Downs was charged with armed robbery, kidnapping while inflicting bodily harm and terror, possession of drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance without a prescription. He was being held with a $161,011 bond in the Clay County Jail.

According to the warrant, Downs was one of three people who reportedly tried to rob a man on Sept. 24. The victim was beaten in the face and locked in the trunk for several hours. He eventually was freed, but Downs kept his backpack containing is cell phone, Bluetooth speakers, shoes, personal items and $50. The victim managed to get help after banging on a door.

Later that night, deputies were called to the Publix at 950 Blanding Blvd. in Orange Park to investigate a suspicious person. They found Downs walking on the sidewalk without a shirt and acting “erratic.” The arrest report stated Downs appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic because he had trouble standing.

Deputies also recovered a backpack that matched was the kidnapping victim reported stolen.

Jacksonville man jailed for grabbing woman by throat

ORANGE PARK – A man was charged with kidnapping and choking a woman in a Walmart parking lot, then forcing her to his hotel room.

Stephan Garrett Parnell, 35, of Jacksonville, was charged with felony battery, domestic battery by strangulation and kidnapping while inflicting bodily harm and terrorizing a victim.

According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the victim said Parnell was drunk Sept. 29 with an opened bottle of whisky in his Jeep when she asked to drive.

She drove to the Walmart at 899 Blanding Blvd., in Orange Park. After she got out of the Jeep, she said Parnell grabbed her by the throat and ordered her back into the car. He then took her to a hotel.

Deputies said the victim had red marks around her throat.

CCSO deputies attacked while breaking up fight

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS – A couple were arrested after they reportedly threw punches at Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies Sept. 28 as they tried to break up their fight.

Katrina Rose Connors, 24, and Tyler Joseph Meaker, 26, both of Keystone Heights, were charged with battery on a police officer. Connors also was charged with resisting arrest and simple battery.

According to CCSO, deputies were called to Bowdoin Avenue at 2 a.m. on Sept. 28. They tried to arrest Connors after they saw her shove Meaker and kick him in the groin. Meaker then grabbed deputies when they tried to pull her away to arrest her.

Connors continued to throw punches and kick deputies, prompting one deputy to punch her in the mouth. They also deployed a taser at Meaker, but the probes missed him. He then surrendered.

Man shot while taking trip down Memory Lane

MAXVILLE – A man was arrested for shooting at a man riding a four-wheeler down Memory Lane.

Duyane P. Milton, 44, of Maxville, was charged Sept. 29 with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon to commit a felony and discharging a firearm in public, after Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies said he fired two shots at Ronald Milton.

Ronald Milton wasn’t injured.

Deputies said they detected a “strong odor of alcohol” on the defendant. They also found two shell casings at the scene.
