CCSO uses K-9 Odin to take down felon with guns

ORANGE PARK – Shortly after K-9 Odin was used to detain a noncompliant suspect for an assault investigation, Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies uncovered two shotguns, a rifle and ammunition.
Christopher Scott Anweiler, 46, of Orange Park, was charged on July 6 with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of firearms and ammunition by a convicted felon and criminal mischief with property damage after deputies answered a call about a disturbance at 1:10 a.m.
When they arrived, Anweiler left through a back door and refused to comply when deputies ordered him to stop. Deputies feared me may brandish a weapon so they deployed the K-9. Anweiler was bitten on the leg and he was arrested.
After getting a search warrant, deputies found the weapons and ammunition inside his house.
His bond was set at $555,014.

Jacksonville man busted for selling methamphetamine at mall

ORANGE PARK – A confidential source working with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office helped orchestrate the purchase of 30.1 grams of methamphetamine in the Orange Park Mall parking lot.
Malik Levania Warthen, 43, was charged on July 8 with trafficking methamphetamine and using a cellphone to facilitate a felony after he was caught selling the drug on June 21.
According to the arrest report, the transaction was set up by a text message.
The sheriff’s office didn’t have to look far to find Warthen because he already was in jail after being arrested for selling 56.8 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential source on July 7 at The Home Depot in Middleburg.
His bond was set at $180,012.
