Man charged with shooting two at girl’s Sweet 16 birthday party
ORANGE PARK – a 20-year-old Middleburg man was arrested on April 10 after Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies said he shot two people at a Sweet 16 birthday party.
Kyle Lee Keith Randelston was charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after he fired twice into a crowd during an argument.
Witnesses said there were between 20-30 people at the party when an argument started in the living room. One of the primary instigators in the argument was Unique Amison, who came to the party with Randelston. According to the arrest report, Randelston was knocked down during the scuffle and he fired indiscriminately twice into the crowded living room. One man was shot in the lower abdomen, another was shot in the back. Neither suffered serious injuries.
CCSO found Randelston at his home. He still had a .380 caliber handgun tucked into his pants.
On April 14, Randelston then was charged with violating his probation.
Randelston’s bond was set at $150,006.
CCSO: Orange Park man jailed for having sex with child for years
ORANGE PARK – U.S. Marshalls arrested a man who was wanted on charges of having sex with a girl for the past five years. The girl, now 13, recently reported the abuse to her mother in January.
Charles Robert Kelley, 45, was charged with capital sexual battery on a child younger than 12 years old. He is being held in the Clay County Jail without bond.
A warrant was issued for Kelley On Feb. 21, but he evaded capture until April 8 when members of the CCSO Special Victims Unit and Targeted Narcotics Team, along with the U.S. Marshals Service and Florida Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force tracked him down at 320 Gwinnett Road in Orange Park, less than a mile from the victim’s address.
The victim said he didn’t report it because she believed it “was normal.” She also provided details of her attacker’s physique.
During the investigation, the victim’s older sister said she also had been assaulted when she was 8.
Local man charged with trafficking one-third pound of meth
ORANGE PARK – A local man was charged with trafficking methamphetamine after he was caught selling drugs to a confidential informant on April 3.
Christopher Shawn Sumner, 46, of Orange Park, was arrested after K-9 Oden alerted deputies of the presence of drugs near the passenger seat of his pickup. They recovered 151.95 grams of methamphetamine, along with fentanyl and marijuana.
His bond was set at $150,003.
Man jailed for drugs after riding bike in no-crossing zone on DeBarry
ORANGE PARK – A man riding is bike in a non-cross area of DeBarry Avenue was arrested after Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies found him with fentanyl and methamphetamine on April 10.
Colvin Linton Cox, 36, of Jacksonville, was also charged with giving a false name during questioning.
According to the arrest report, a deputy saw Cox ride his bicycle behind a convenience store. Since he crossed the road at a non-crossing area, he was stopped. Cox consented to having his bookbag searched, and deputies were able to retrieve the drugs.
Jacksonville man charged with domestic violence on a date
ORANGE PARK – A Jacksonville man was arrested April 9 after witnesses saw him punch his girlfriend in the parking lot of a local convenience store.
Derek Sterling Watson, 37, was charged with simple dating battery.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Watson was arguing with a woman he’d been dating for the past six months. The woman said he punched her in the arm and in the face before they pulled into the convenience store parking lot. Customers said they saw him punch her again.
He was arrested after deputies saw red marks on her shoulder and face.
