CCSO looking for information on woman found in Black Creek

MIDDLEBURG – The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is looking for information on a Jacksonville woman found on Feb. 22 in Black Creek at North Fork.
Lynda Robertson was found by a kayaker.
CCSO Det. David Vereen is investigating her death. He wants information on Robertson or her Ford pickup truck. She was found wearing a gold chain with a cross.

CCSO officers kill man who was shooting at them

ORANGE PARK – An Orange Park man was shot and killed after he opened fire on Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies on Feb. 27.
According to the agency, dispatchers received several calls about shots being fired at the Alexander Pointe Apartments at 2121 Burwick Ave. Three minutes after arriving at the scene, they encountered the man who began shooting at them. The deputies returned fire and hit the suspect.
He died at the Orange Park Medical Center a half hour later.
The FDLE has identified the individual who opened fire on our deputies as 32-year-old Rudy M. Duvivier.
Three CCSO officers were involved, according to the agency. They had three, five and six years of law enforcement experience, CCSO said, and it was the first officer-involved shooting for any of the three.
The sheriff’s office has asked the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to investigate.
Sheriff Michelle Cook responded to the scene and has issued the following statement:
“I am thankful that the men and women who bravely serve our community prevailed tonight. We appreciate our community’s continued support, and I ask that we keep all of the individuals involved in tonight’s incident in your thoughts and prayers.”

Man charged with two counts of attempted murder

CLAY HILL – A Middleburg man was jailed on Feb. 27 without bond after being charged with shooting a man at the TNT Lounge and Liquor on County Road 218.
Christopher Steven Lutgens, 26, was booked on two counts of attempted second-degree murder after the victim was shot in the leg and hip on Feb. 25 in the parking lot. Deputies found four bullet holes in the victim’s car.
CCSO issued an alert for Lutgens on Feb. 26 and he turned himself in at the investigations office in Orange Park.

Jailed man arrested for second jailhouse brawl

GREEN COVE SPRINGS – A man already in jail for robbery, now faces new charges for his role in another jailhouse brawl.
Israel Vega Cruz, 28, of Orange Park, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after detectives determined he used his fists, feet and a broom to beat another inmate on Feb. 23 at the Clay County Jail. Charles C. Batine, 19, and Kyle L.K. Randelston, 21, were charged with battery in a detention center for their roles.
Cruz originally was arrested on Aug. 20 for battery on a CCSO deputy after he ran his car into the rear bumper of a patrol car. Deputies were called to a convenience store on Blanding Boulevard after a clerk said Cruz became enraged and pushed a cigarette display off the counter and left with two packs of cigarettes without paying.
Cruz then was involved in another fight in the jail on Jan. 11, according to CCSO. He was charged with battery in a detention center.
Cruz was ordered to be held without bond.

Woman camped in a van caught with cache of drugs

GREEN COVE SPRINGS – A woman who was sitting in the passenger seat of a van for six hours without moving was arrested on assortment of drug-related charges.
Brittaney Kincaid Biggs, 29, of Green Cove Springs was charged with possession of cocaine, fentanyl, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, suboxone and drug paraphernalia after a resident reported a suspicious van parked on Aquarius Concourse, according to the arrest report. A Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputy found Biggs sitting in the passenger seat with small spoon on the center console. They also found her sitting on several syringes.
Biggs’ bond was set at $47,511.

Blinker violation leads to man’s arrest for drugs

MIDDLEBURG – Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies found amphetamines, methamphetamine, Xanax, marijuana and drug paraphernalia after they stopped a man on Dolphin Avenue for not using his turn signal.
Christopher Clark Lester, 31, also was charged with tampering with evidence.
Lester was stopped after he made an “abrupt” right turn off County Road 218 without using his blinker, according to the arrest report. K-9 Cash sniffed the exterior of the car and alerted deputies of the likely presence of illegal drugs.
Lester, whose bond was set at $33,013, also received a written warning for not using his turn signal.

Two killed after car slams into tree in GCS

GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Two passengers were killed on County Road 209 Monday night when the driver veered off the road and slammed into a tree and power pole.
The victims were identified as David Hardie Jr., 19, a senior at Clay High, and his father, David Hardie, 44. The son wasn’t wearing his seatbelt, FHP said.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the car left the road at Bayard Road at 8:30 p.m. Two other passengers, including the 42-year-old woman driver, were seriously injured.
