Man tracked down following January robbery

GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Clay County Sheriff’s Office detectives and deputies tracked down a man they believe stole a root grapple attachment from a home in January.

Chadwick Lugene Shelton, 43, of Green Cove Springs, was charged with grand theft after deputies recovered the attachment after following him home on Feb. 17.

According to the arrest report, a Wildcat Root Grapple was taken from another home in Green Cove Springs. Deputies said the attachment was spray-painted to make it more difficult to identify. CCSO found the equipment at a home on Little Pond Road.

His bond was set at $75,003.

Woman faces additional charges for spitting on jailer

GREEN COVE SPRINGS – A woman already in jail for striking an emergency room nurse now faces additional charges after the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said she spat in the face of a corrections officer.

Kelly Christine Bridgman, 42, of Green Cove Springs, was charged on Feb. 19 with battery of a detention employee with fluids.

According to the arrest report, Bridgman was being taken back to her cell when she demanded a new blanket and refused to enter it. When the officer tried to lead her into the cell, Bridgman spat on her.

The officer quickly gained control and put Bridgman in her cell.

Bridgman originally was arrested on Jan. 26 in Middleburg after CCSO said she struck an emergency care provider at Ascension Medical Group St. Vincent’s Primary Care in Middleburg.

Bridgman had an IV in her arm when she became uncooperative when she couldn’t get anything to eat or drink. The nurse tried to stop her from leaving so she could remove the IV, but Bridgman hit her with a “fist full of change.”

Bridgman also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at the care center.

Deputies need help identifying woman found in Black Creek

MIDDLEBURG – Sheriff’s office deputies need help identifying a woman found Monday, Feb. 22, in the North Fork of Black Creek.

The woman was found by a kayaker wearing a thin, golf chain necklace with a distinctive cross, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone who may have information is asked to call CCSO Detective David Vereen at (904) 6512.

CCSO needs help catching man wanted for Orange Park shooting

ORANGE PARK – The Clay County Sheriff’s Office needs help catching a man wanted for shooting two people Sunday, Feb. 21, at daq Shacck, 1754 Wells Road.

The agency said one person was transported to Orange Park Medical Center and another person was taken to the hospital in a passenger car.
