Woman caught with underwear filled with drugs at the jail

ORANGE PARK – A woman being booked for a traffic warrant now faces a multitude of charges after Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies found drugs stuffed in her underwear.
Shellie Ann Truitt Ramey, 24, of Middleburg, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine and Buprenorphine/Naloxone, as well as introducing contraband into the Clay County Jail.
According to the arrest report, a detention officer noticed a “bulge” during her body scan. She was taken into the restroom, where deputies found a bag filled with the drugs and dozens of small unused plastic bags. Deputies also found another substance, but they weren’t able to identify it.
Ramey’s bond was set at $125,015.

Grand jury indicts to Clay County men for first-degree murder
CLAY COUNTY – A newly-impaneled Clay County grand jury returned first-degree murder indictments last week of two men, including a contractor charged with killing his client and dumping her body at the Rosemary Hill Landfill.
Corey Louis Binderim, 46, was charged with killing Susan Mauldin, a Fleming Island resident, after she hired him to do a $12,000 remodel of a bathroom at her Harbor Island subdivision home on Oct. 23 or 24, 2019. Her body eventually was found at the Chesser Island Road Landfill in Folkston, Ga., after it originally was left at Rosemary Hill.
The Spring Session grand jury also indicted Cameron Wesley Kirk, 42, of shooting his mother, Paula Kirk, to death in their Middleburg home sometime between Feb. 1, 2020, and May 12, 2020, and wrapping her body in plastic and leaving it in his garage.
According to the indictment, Binderim is accused of returning to Mauldin’s home after she threatened to report him for not completing the remodeling project. At some point, investigators believe she was either beaten or strangled to death. Binderim then was recorded on store surveillance at The Home Depot on State Road 220 buying cement and large trash bags.
Investigators said Mauldin’s body was left at Rosemary Hill, where trash is then transferred to the South Georgia location. Detectives alerted officials at Chesser Island and had the area roped off was Rosemary Hill trash was unloaded. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office, State Attorney’s Office and the FBI found her body.
Binderim already was at the Duval County Jail after being charged with taking money and not completing a project for another client. He was returned to Clay County on March 3, 2019, after being charged with second-degree murder.
The grand jury decided first-degree charges, as well as tampering with evidence and assault and battery during robbery also were part of the indictment. His next appearance is scheduled for May 4.
CCSO deputies responded to Kirk’s home after a friend reported the 65-year-old woman missing. Kirk told deputies he hadn’t seen her mother for nearly two months. Kirk told them he believed she went to South Florida with an unidentified man.
Deputies asked if they could look at her bedroom to see if anything was out of the ordinary. Once they were inside the home, they detected the “faint odor of human decomposition.” They also found all her clothes still in the bedroom.
Her body then was found in the garage when deputies served a search warrant.
Kirk admitted to punching his mother in the face during an argument, according to the arrest report, and continuing the beating while she tried to run through the living room. She eventually landed on the floor following the beating. Kirk told investigators he then took a shotgun from his bedroom and shot his mother in the head.
Kirk left his mother in a spare bedroom for two days before moving it into the garage, CCSO said.
He also was charged with abusing a dead human body.
Kirk is due back in court on May 26.

FDLE: Daniels sent $60,000 to former mistress during their affair
CLAY COUNTY – Former Clay County Sheriff Darryl Daniels told investigators he gave his former mistress $60,000 during an affair that started when both worked at the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement released 33 files of evidence it plans to use against Daniels after he was charged with one count of tampering with evidence and three counts of giving false information to law enforcement after he demanded his mistress, former JSO jailer Cierra Smith, be arrested last August for stalking him. Smith was briefly detained and taken to the Clay County Jail, but she was released before being booked because a chief and undersheriff decided there wasn’t probable cause.
Daniels was arrested five days before he ran for re-election in the Aug. 18 primary. He lost to Michelle Cook, and days later he was suspended by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Cook was selected to serve the final few months of Daniels’ term before she was sworn into office in January.
The State Attorney’s Office offered Daniels a deal before the primary, offering him a chance to escape prosecution if he dropped from the race and promised not to run for sheriff again. He refused.
Now he faces charges of trying to delete or destroy information on his cellphone which reportedly proved nearly 200 calls and texts between Daniels and Smith.
FDLE released a taped interview with Daniels where he admitted to exchanging nude photos with Smith. He denied having sex with Smith at the Clay County Sheriff’s Office or in his patrol truck.
Daniels’ next online court appearance is scheduled for May 4.
