Paterson Elementary honors veterans with special program

FLEMING ISLAND—Students, faculty, and members of the public came together last Thursday to honor local veterans.

Paterson Elementary's Veterans Day program saw a large turnout, with many proud Veterans in the audience.

From the presentation of the colors by Fleming Island High's NJROTC Color Guard and performances by the school's chorus to many student essay readings, the program was a special thank you to those who served.

As their service branch music played, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Army Veterans were asked to stand for recognition. The program also acknowledged the school's active duty military students and military and family life counselor, Addris Vinson.

The event also featured the appearance of special guests from Allegro — William Walker, who served in the Navy during the Korean War and Howard Rosenbaum, who served in the Army during the Vietnam War.

The two were presented certificates of appreciation from Principal John O'Brian and Superintendent David Broskie.
