GREEN COVE SPRINGS – A man driving with a license tag not assigned to his SUV went to jail for driving with a permanently revoked license.
Jeffrey Dean Rife, 61, of Palatka, was charged with driving with a revoked license, driving with a permanently revoked license and driving with a replaced tag when a deputy on “proactive patrol” in the downtown area checked a tag on a car that was driving on Orange Avenue. He stopped Rife after he was alerted the tag was supposed to be on another car. The original tag expired last March.
A search through the Driver and Vehicle Information Database revealed Rife and been arrested seven times for driving with a suspended license. Rife’s license was permanently revoked on Oct. 5, 2004, after he was convicted of his third driving under the influence charge.
Rife’s bond was set at $25,003.
