ORANGE PARK – Local residents with back and neck pain can now head to Orange Park’s newest chiropractic clinic, The Joint, for relief and treatment plans.

The Joint recently opened its doors to patients in need of spine adjustments, and from July 18-21, anyone can get the clinic’s services for free.

Operations director Kane Ali hopes to see new faces take advantage treatments and giveaways during the grand opening.

“During our grand opening, everything is complementary,” Ali said. “There will be a bike giveaway, drawings, prizes, free chair massages and free consultations and adjustments. We want anyone who’s ever been curious of chiropractic treatment or anyone in need of it to be there.”

Chiropractic is a form of medical treatment that focuses on the joints and bones where they come together at the spine. There are 24 individual vertebrae in the spine. Natasha Musser said chiropractors focus their attention on vertebras and how the joints and bones interact with each other.

“As a chiropractor, I assess the spine and find joint dysfunctions,” Musser said. “Those are the areas I treat which in turn relieves those dysfunctions and alleviates the patient of the pain they were feeling.”

Musser uses her hands to feel the range of motion and mobility in a patient’s joints.

“We’re looking for areas that don’t move through their normal range of motion and we apply adjustments with force to encourage that joint to move through its normal range of motion,” she said.

While the patient might find immediate relief after an adjustment, Musser said more treatments are generally needed. Following an adjustment, a treatment plan will be created.

“So, I wouldn’t say chiropractic treatment is a one-and-done thing,” Musser said. “Each adjustment builds on the previous adjustment and people really see the benefit when they come in consistently.”

Musser said patients in need of treatment have a pattern of joint dysfunction. For example, one of the most common types of patients are athletes. Anyone who uses repetitive motion on one side of their body, like a baseball pitcher or a mother who often carries their child on their hip, is likely to see their body develop a pattern of painful joint dysfunction. Musser’s job is to determine why and how that joint dysfunction occurred, then apply adjustments until it’s returned to its normal and healthy state.

“There are patterns that a patient’s body has developed and it’s my job to retrain their body and brain,” Musser said. “People come with issues they’ve had for years and years and we have to retrain the brain to relearn the normal movement.”

Ali likens chiropractic treatment as taking an aspirins and vitamins. Aspirin is for immediate pain. Vitamins are for maintenance and wellness. Ali said chiropractic treatments treat both.

The Joint offers a $69 monthly rate, which breaks down to $17.25 a visit.

“That’s less than a typical copay and that’s why we have zero insurance hassles,” Ali said. “If you want treatment, you can walk in, pay and receive it, assuming you need it.”

Additional treatments after the membership’s initial four costs $10 each. The Joint also has a walk-in rate of $39, as well as packages with either six, 10 or 20 adjustments that can be used at any of The Joint’s 460 nationwide locations.

The Joint is open seven days a week at 410 Blanding Blvd. in Orange Park. Ali said that anyone who texts “JAXVIP” to 89000 will be automatically registered for The Joint’s VIP event during the clinic's grand opening.
