ORANGE PARK - Lakeside and Oakleaf junior high schools won the boys and girls Northeast Florida Athletic Conference track titles on Thursday at Ridgeview High School.

Both teams flipped in the first and second spots, ironically, with Lakesides' boys beating Oakleaf 131-117 while the Oakleaf girls beat Lakeside 142.33-85.0 in the girls action.

In baseball, Green Cove Springs took out unbeaten Lake Asbury in their NEFAC semifinal then dominated Oakleaf 13-0 in the baseball championship game at Middleburg.

At Clay High, the Lake Asbury Junior High girls softball lost a 10-4 championship game to once-beaten Baker County. Baker County's lone loss was to Green Cove Springs.

At the NEFAC track championships, Lakeside's boys dominated the hurdle events with a Tyson Janda and Jayvain Green going 1-2 in the 100 hurdles for 18 team points for the Gators.

Lakeside also dominated the weight throws with David Fuentes and Jay'Shawn McCloud going 1-2 in the discus and McCloud and teammate Christian Zampatti going 1-2 in discus.

In the 1600, Oakleaf's Jack Strombeck responded to a last lap surge by Lakeside's Cooper Stewart to win by a stretch in 5:06.86 to Stewart's 5:07.06 in one of the closest races of the night.

Oakleaf won by more than 22 seconds over Lake Asbury in the 4 x 800 with Strombeck running the second leg.

In the 100 meters, Oakleaf's Mike Connor outleaned Lakeside's Antonio Watkins by a 12.27-12.28 splits with Lake Asbury's Evan Gilbert in a hair behind for third at 12.32.

Lakeside's Gavin Emile started fast and stayed ahead to win the 800 in 2:19.03 over a pair of Oakleaf challengers who finished over 2:27.30.

For the Oakleaf girls, Brooke Linscomb dominated the 100 hurdles in 16.71 to win by more than a second over Green Cove's Amira Martin. Linscomb also won the long jump with a 15 foot jump to beat Erin Strother of Lake Asbury.

Lakeside got a dominant performance in the 100 with Karissa Lou running 5:55.49 to beat Malia Mazerac of Oakleaf by 22 seconds.

Oakleaf's girls got wins in the sprints with Skylar Smith and Jannilyah James going 1-3 in the 400; Dylan Fogle and Mazerac going 1-2 in the 800 and Oakleaf's girls taking the 4 x 400 relay over Green

Five inches separated Oakleaf shotputter Rayna Autry and Lakeside's Sophia Butler with Autry winning at 32'-2". Autry was second in discus to Wilkinson's Annabelle Underwood, younger sister to Middleburg High state meet discus throwers Madison and Wyatt Underwood, both throwing and looking to qualify for state again this season.
