DELAND - St. John Country Day School girls soccer head to Spec Martin Stadium Saturday for a 1 p.m. kickoff to recapture the Class 1A title that has eluded Spartans for the past two years. With 14 state titles in the trophy case, coach Mike Pickett is looking for a restart of his 11 consecutive titles. The Spartans, which beat South Florida HEAT, 6-0, on Feb. 26, will play Pine School out of Stuart, at 16-1-1, with a leading scorer with nearly 90 goals. Pine School, 7-6-1 last year, lost to Lakeland Christian in region quarterfinals in 2023, in region semis to Jupiter; in 2022, lost in region semis to Jupiter Christian.
