KEYSTONE HEIGHTS – Thousands will leave the Keystone Heights Airport Sunday with bloodshot eyes, a desperate need of a shower and a smile after spending three days rambling through dusty trails in their Jeeps to support Krawl’n for the Fallen.
Off-Road United Foundation’s annual fundraiser at the Florida International Rally and Motorsports Park will raise money for families of fallen or injured responders. The fun-filled rally honors the survivors, law enforcement agencies and supporters with three days of fellowship, food, vendors, trail riding, camping, entertainment and raffles.
One of the popular trails is an obstacle course that makes many of the most talented off-road veteran drivers flinch.
Last year’s event attracted more than 100 survivors, nearly 800 jeeps and 2,500 people. 135 officers and 25 K-9s were honored, and $107,000 was raised. There were also 72 vendors and 60 volunteers.
A weekend pass costs $120 at the gate, and a Sunday pass is $50. The trails open at noon on Friday, and campers are allowed to enter and set up at 9 a.m. on Friday. Gates open on Saturday and Sunday at 9 a.m. All campers and participants must leave the property by 4 p.m. Sunday.
