Keystone Height’s Moncrief earns scholarship from TaxSlayer Gator Bowl

Caleb Moncrief played tight end and defensive end for the Keystone Heights Indians last year. He’s also a member of the weightlifting, basketball and track and field teams, the National Honor Society, National Math and English Honor Society and recipient of the Clay Electric Speech Contest Scholarship.

Now he can add a $2,500 scholarship winner from the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl Association.

Moncrief was honored when Texas A&M and Wake Forest were introduced as this year’s teams in the annual game at TIAA Bank Field.

The Gator Bowl identified four local athletes who excel in academics, athletics and community involvement.

Others to win scholarships were Kyra Brenneman from Creekside High, Bishop Kenny’s Natalie Otero and Evan Fleisher from Ponte Vedra.

“That’s what it’s all about,” Gator Bowl president Greg McGarrity said during the announcement. “That not only means putting on a great game and putting heads in bed. But it’s also paying attention to the needs of the community. We’re just so proud to be affiliated with so many wonderful people. This is a big, big deal for these kids.”
